Position Overview



The Town of Vail is seeking a Winter Maintenance Worker (Seasonal) to join the public works department.  This position is responsible for collecting & maintaining trash receptacles, winter snow removal, park cleanliness, upkeep of facilities, and street maintenance operations. 


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:   


Keep all pedestrian areas, stairs, sidewalks, walk paths, bridges, and bus stops clear of snow and ice. Keep the villages clean by continually checking them and hand sweeping daily, changing trash containers, and walking the villages, frontage roads, and interstate picking up trash.  In addition you may be asked to perform other duties of the streets department as assigned.

Qualified applicants must must be self motivated and have the ability to work individually without direct supervision to accomplish multiple tasks. 


In addition they must meet the following requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid CO driver’s license (clean driving record)
  • Previous outdoor maintenance or manual labor experience preferred
  • Must be able to perform job duties requiring stooping, bending, heavy lifting and physical exertion, full range of body motion required. 
  • Requires working shifts, to include nights and/or weekends, and must be available to work holidays and overtime when necessary.


All positions have exposure to the outdoors in all weather conditions and all types of equipment noise, traffic, dust, chemicals and fumes.  The position is very physical requiring stooping, standing, kneeling and lifting the entire shift. 



Additional Details

  • In person interview will be required for selected candidates.
  • Schedule is 4 x 10 hour shifts.
  • Position starts asap and continues through mid April.
