The Town of Vail is now hiring a certified Journey Electrician to join the facilities maintenance department.  This service oriented position will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing all Town of Vail machinery, equipment and physical structures related to the electrical systems.  

 

In addition the Journey Electrician will duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing daily supervision and training of electrical apprentices.
  • Conducting electrical repair and maintenance for all Town of Vail departments  
  • Replacing faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches and motors, and position sensing devices.
  • Providing excellent customer service by responding  to questions, concerns, wants, and complaints in a courteous and timely manner. 
  • Work on projects that include building additions or remodels, streetlights, bus shelter lighting, playground and recreation path lighting, and new signage. 
  • Installing power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed equipment and machines 
  • Performing minor repairs such as replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs, and switches.  
  • Maintaining tools, equipment and keeping  supplies in order.
  • Cleaning electrical work and storage areas as required and keeping supplies in order.
  • Attending meetings and training as required.
  • Performing other duties as directed.

Skills / Requirements

Qualified applicants will meet the following requirements: 

  • A valid state of Colorado Journeyman Electrician license. 
  • A high school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Extensive knowledge of the industry.
  • Working knowledge of required equipment and basic maintenance skills.
  • The ability to read, understand and work from blue prints.
  • All current National Electrical Code requirements.
  • A valid driver’s license (or the ability to obtain a Colorado DL within 30 days)
  • Supervisory experience.

This position work in a variety of environments, both indoors and outdoors and involves exposure to a variety of weather conditions.  Exposure to fumes, dust, and noise may be constant.  The position may require working from a ladder. The duties listed above are physically demanding and require the full range of body movements including lifting up to 75 Lbs., standing, stooping, kneeling and bending for an entire shift.
