    The Town of Vail is currently accepting applications for a full-time Police Administrative Technician .  We're looking for an energetic individual who can multi-task and who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The Police Administrative Technician is responsible for performing criminal justice-related information management and administrative services duties to include responding to inquiries from the public and criminal justice personnel; taking incident reports from the public; assisting officers and detectives with evidence intake and disposal; assembling, classifying and coding crime information; compiling, computing and preparing administrative and operational data reports; monitoring databases to ensure integrity of information; and, providing a range of non-enforcement services.  


    Candidates should have the ability, after training, to interpret federal reporting requirements, evaluate complex issues and be able to work under minimal supervision. 


    In person interviews will be required. Selection process will include, but is not limited to: application review, oral interview, drug screening, polygraph and background investigation.  Must be able to work 10-hour shifts (7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. to include Saturdays and holidays). 



    Skills / Requirements

    Qualified applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age and have no felony offenses or crimes of moral turpitude and no convictions.  Applicants must have excellent oral and written communication skills, have no recent history of illegal drug use and excellent public relations skills. Knowledge of laws, codes, and legal procedures is preferred. 


    In addition they must meet the following requirements:

    • Two years heavy volume computer experience required, in particular with MS Office products. 
    • A high school diploma or GED required. 
    • At least 30 hours of college credits preferred. 
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills highly desired.  
    • Detail Oriented.
    • Ability to multi-task.
    • Previous guest service experience.
    • Ability to work under adverse conditions and deescalate situations as needed.

     Work is conducted in a general office environment with extended periods of sitting at a computer terminal.
