    The Town of Vail is seeking a Maintenance Worker I to join the public works department for the winter.  This position is responsible for shoveling / clearing of snow and ice , trash collecting & maintaining trash receptacles, upkeep of facilities, and street maintenance operations. While the duties will vary depending,  providing guest service through out the Town of Vail is always a priority.


    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:   


    Clean, repair and maintain-streets, bridges, walkways, stairs, parking lots, culverts, catch basins, ditches, rec. paths and shop facility. Keep all pedestrian areas, stairs, sidewalks, walk paths, bridges, and bus stops clear of snow, ice and trash. Keep the villages clean by continuing checking them and hand sweeping daily, changing trash containers, and walking the villages, frontage roads, and interstate picking up trash.

Qualified applicants must must be self motivated and have the ability to work individually without direct supervision to accomplish multiple tasks. 


    In addition they must meet the following requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Valid CO driver’s license (clean driving record)
    • Previous outdoor maintenance or manual labor experience prefered
    • Must be able to perform job duties requiring stooping, bending, heavy lifting and physical exertion, full range of body motion required. 
    • Requires working shifts, to include nights and/or weekends, and must be available to work holidays and events when necessary.

    Additional Details

    • In person interview will be required for selected candidates.
