    Are you interested in learning more about your community and the building process? The Town of Vail is hiring a Development Services Technician to be the first point of contact for the customers of the Community Development Department. This position is responsible for assisting customers and for providing support to the entire Community Development department. This role will tie together many of the moving parts for this busy department; attention to detail and teamwork is a must.

    The Development Services Technician provides and explains the planning and building permit application process to customers, communicates technical information related to the adopted building codes, zoning and design codes and offers general administrative support inclusive of answering phone lines, photocopying/scanning of documents, sorting through mail, writing routine letters, review and acceptance of applications, data entry, assisting and coordinating many facets of the department. While technical knowledge for the position is important we are willing to train the right person who has a positive attitude, is team oriented and has demonstrated excellent guest service.

    Skills / Requirements

    Knowledge and Experience Level:

    • Strong technical ability and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites and Adobe Acrobat products. A high proficiency in excel preferred.
    • 3-4 years working in an office environment.
    • Previous experience working in an office environment where many of the documents, systems and files where maintained electronically.
    • Highly organized individual with exceptional attention to detail.
    • Outstanding communication skills.
    • Ability to be a self starter and leader.
    • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
