The Town of Vail is now accepting applications for a 911 Center Operations Administrator. Emergency communications is an exciting career that is fast paced, very rewarding & is an essential role in public safety. By providing critical services to the community, as an Emergency Communications Specialist, you can make a difference!

Our state-of-the-art communication facility is located in Vail, CO and dispatches emergency service calls 24/7 – 365 days a year, for 13 public safety agencies in Eagle County. This very important role ensures community safety utilizing phone and radio systems to support county-wide Police, Fire, and EMS agencies. Position Summary:  As the 911 Center Operations Administrator, you will be responsible for the daily operation of the close knit Communication Center and team, as well as maintaining and administering the Center’s policies, quality control, and user agency liaison. Your decisions will affect policies and procedures, and coordinate life-safety practices within the department. Your core responsibility is being the liaison between the department Director, internal staff, user agencies, and vendors to implement program changes, updates, corrections, and other system fixes.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Position requires 2 to 3 years dispatching experience, plus at least two years in a supervisory capacity, or the equivalent.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Principles of supervision and training.
• Principles and practices of public safety communications centers.
• Principles and practices of program development and administration.
• Principles and practices of recordkeeping.
• Advanced mathematical concepts, including statistical analysis and comparison.
• Modern office technology and equipment, including computer and related software applications and internet operating principles.
• Principles and practices of project management.

Education, Experience and Certificates

• NENA ENP certification preferred.
• Must have EMD, CPR/AED certifications or be able to acquire these certifications within six months of hire.
• Must have CCIC/NCIC OSN or be able to acquire within six months of hire
